Get the Basics Right
Part one
- Explain the following terms in your own words:
- The Internet – worldwide network of many computers and other devices connected together.
- HTML – universal language used by the Internet.
- Browser – application used to view all the information from the Internet.
- Search engine – a program that searches the whole Internet for key words which one enters into it.
- Please research and add another 10 questions to the briefing process.(See the lesson.)
- Do you have text prepared? What should be written on your website?
- Do you have a graphic profile? If so, do you have a profile manual?
- If so, can you provide original files (like a logo, decorative elements)?
- Do you have any photos, which you want to use for the website?
- Do you have copy rights for file that you want to use?
- Do you have any idea how it should looks like?
- Do you want any video or audio files on your website?
- Do you want your website to be mobile friendly?
- Do you want this website to be multi language?
- Will users need to log in to your website?
- From this list of 20 questions (your 10 added to my 10), please create the ultimate list of 10 questions that you would use for clients.
- What kind of visitors are you expecting on your website?
- Who are your competitors and how do you differ from them?
- What is your deadline for completing the site? How big is the budget?
- What features should be used on your website?
- Do you have a graphic profile? If so, do you have a profile manual?
- Do you have copy rights for file that you want to use?
- Who will be the contact person for this project?
- Please list the names of three sites that you like and explain what you like about them.
- Do you have any colour preferences? What should the look and feel for the website be?
- Will users need to log in to your website?
Part two
Surf the web and find 10 sites you would consider to be great websites. Simultaneously, make a list of 10 sites you consider bad web sites. Remember to describe why you would define them as such. Upload your lists on your blog.
